本業務内容は,米空軍横田基地内の建物B4408におけるクーリングタワー改修の設計施工業務である。
診療所の屋上に設置されている既設の4セル-クーリングタワーを,新規の2セル-クーリングタワーに交換することが主な業務であり,この新設機器は550トンの廃熱性能を有している。新クーリングタワーは,VFDフィルターシステムおよびインバーターモーター方式であり,梯子,作業台およびモータークレーンを備えている。また,既設のクーリングタワーを撤去した後,既設の台座を改良して,新クーリングタワーを設置した。

Project Title:
Replace Hospital Cooling Towers B4408, Yokota Air Base, Japan
Description of our scope of work:
The project will require new construction and repair work. Main work consisted of replacement of existing 4-cell cooling tower with new 2-cell cooling tower. The new cooling tower system will provide 550 tons of heat rejection from the 2-cell cooling tower. Each new cell of the cooling tower will have a VFD’s filtering systems, stainless steel cold basins, inverter duty motors, ladders and service platforms and motor davits. The new cooling tower shall be installed on the roof of the Clinic building. The existing cooling tower was removed and the structural steel was modified to accommodate the new cooling tower. The controls for the towers was mounted in a separate panel located in the Clinic mechanical room and modulated the VFD fan motors to maintain the proper condenser set point. The controls were provided with start stop speed control, alarms and feedback to the ALC system. Power wiring for the new cooling tower fans was connected to the existing MCC located in the Clinic mechanical room and was modified for the new cooling tower fans.
Design was performed in accordance with:
Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) 3-420-01 Plumbing Systems, dated 25 Oct 2004 and Oct 2006; Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) 3-230-10A Water Supply: Water Distribution, dated 16 Jan 2004; and International Plumbing Code (IPC), 2006 Edition, Latest NFPA & ASHRAE Handbooks, etc.
